"461 Ocean Boulevard", title of 1974 Eric Clapton's super hit was recorded at the property by the star during his residence in the area. The street address of the house was changed several times after the album's release due to fans flocking to the property.
The house has long since been rebuilt and the street address restored.
Clapton's take on the Marley tune "I shot the sheriff", most sold single of the album, outplayed the original version, reaching the Top 10 single charts in nine countries, becoming Clapton's only number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 2003, Clapton's version was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. The single was also Clapton's first single to sell well internationally, achieving Gold certifications in the United States as well as a double Platinum award in Canada.

According to several historians, place the Gibbs brothers renting the property after Clapton, by Eric Clapton's advice, making 461 Ocean Blvd. one of the properties with the most musical history in the world.
"You can rent that place and live there and record and get a sun tan." it was credited to Clapton saying the Australian trio in London.
